Our Commitment

The information in these information sheets was correct at the time of publication and has been retained without change as a record of processes for the project development phase of the Roe Highway Extension. Some of the information may be superseded by more recent documents, including the project’s Public Environmental Review document.

We are committed to identifying a preferred concept design in partnership with community and stakeholders to ensure that sustainable outcomes are achieved through strong collaborative relationships.

Innovative design and alignment solutions, never before seen on Main Roads' projects and developed in partnership with the community and key stakeholders aim to minimise and mitigate negative environmental, heritage or social impacts in the immediate vicinity of the project with the objective of ensuring that the surrounding environment is enhanced as part of the project.

Early community and stakeholder engagement valuable

Participation in these early stages of project development has given community and stakeholders the opportunity to contribute to the design process before the preferred concept design is submitted to the relevant agencies for assessment and a final design.

The government has recognised the value of early community participation and South Metro Connect has continued engagement throughout the development stage of the project. Typically, this level of community engagement is undertaken once a preferred design option has been identified.
