Shopfront Now Open! 18 Blackly Row, Cockburn Central
We would like to invite the community and interested parties to come visit us at our new office and shopfront located at 18 Blackly Row, Cockburn Central (located off Hammond Road). The shopfront will be open to the public Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm. Click here to view the office location in Google Maps.
The shopfront has been established to provide the community with an easy point of contact, access previous community display material and ask the South Metro Connect project team questions face to face.
Finding suitable premises in the project area that accommodated the project team and provided space for the shopfront took longer than expected to secure.
“Our intent was to get our team together in the one location, close to the project area, as soon as possible”, said Project Director, Abra De Klerk. “I encourage the community and those interested in the project to come and visit our new space.”
In line with AECOM’s Green Building Policy, an environmentally friendly office fitout has been implemented. The shopfront boasts a feature wall of recycled timber, a floor made of recycled tyres and pinup boards made of recycled coke bottles.
The team is also in the process of establishing the use of recycled paper and other eco-friendly materials including sourcing Fairtrade coffee and consumables.
Environmental Scoping Document Submitted to the EPA
The South Metro Connect project team submitted the draft Environmental Scoping Document (ESD) to the Environmental Protection Authority on 14 January 2010. A copy of this document is available here.
The ESD is the document that outlines the scope of the environmental assessment work to be undertaken by South Metro Connect. The document defines critical issues and baseline studies necessary to make an informed assessment of environmental impacts. It describes key environmental issues and the type of information that needs to be collected to better understand those issues or systems.
The preliminary draft of the ESD was provided to the community and stakeholders for public comment in November last year. Representatives from key stakeholder groups, as well as a number of interested community members provided feedback on the ESD. The comments and questions raised by stakeholders and South Metro Connect’s responses to those comments are contained in Appendix A of the ESD.
The Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) will distribute the ESD to key stakeholders including the Department of Environment and Conservation, Department of Water and the Commonwealth Department of Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts for comment. The EPA will coordinate comments from these groups and return these to South Metro Connect within an agreed timeframe. South Metro Connect will review the comments, make any required amendments to the ESD, and resubmit a final version to the EPA.
If you have any questions regarding the process please call us on 1800 132 172.
