The South Metro Connect community engagement team will be holding its first community open day this Saturday 24th October at 22 Gwilliam Drive Bibra Lake. The open day is an opportunity for the community to speak with the South Metro Connect team regarding the Roe Highway Extension.

The open day will be the first public event of what is an 18 month community engagement program to gather information and input for a sustainable design option for the extension of the Roe Highway between Kwinana Freeway in Jandakot and Stock Road in Coolbellup.

Alliance Manager, David Azzam said “The purpose of the open day is to allow the community to have input into the process and play a pivotal part in the future development of this project.”

“Senior members of the South Metro Connect project team including myself will be available on the day to listen, answer any questions the community may have, document their input and encourage participation in the process.”

“Ensuring that families who want to reduce heavy vehicle traffic on suburban streets, as well as those who have environmental and social concerns about the future of the Roe Highway extension have a forum to provide feedback is what the open day and community consultation process is all about.”

“I encourage all people to participate and work collaboratively with us to produce the best possible outcome for the Roe Highway Extension”.

“We have already had some promising ideas put forward that could be developed further as this project progresses.”

South Metro Connect is responsible for investigating solutions to a complex range of issues to develop an environmentally and socially acceptable solution and taking that option through the environmental process.

Mr Azzam encourages other members of the community to attend this Saturday’s Information Day to learn more about the project and have a meaningful dialogue with the South Metro Connect Team about their issues as well as get more information on how they can have their say.
